As your social media coordinator, I have to take on the arduous task of testing out new bars and restaurants for all of you. This task was made especially difficult when I received an invitation to CoCo Sala’s Chocolate Boutique grand opening. Being forced to eat delicious chocolate and drink champagne all night was quite difficult. Here is my assessment…
Co|Co. Sala Chocolate Lounge & Boutique
929 F Street NW
As soon as you walk into the restaurant, you are greeted by a dining/lounge area. The restaurant is decorated with a dark brown/deep red decor with gold accents that fits their chocolates perfectly.
At the event last night you were greeted by servers adorned in red dresses and black boots, offering tastes of tiny chocolates and truffles. I indulged in a peanut-butter and jelly square that tasted like a gourmet peanut butter cup…with jelly. There were also a number of assorted chocolate-based desserts, including a delicious chocolate mousse cup and a chocolate and cinnamon cigar roll.
The chocolates aren’t the only thing delicious though. Samet, the assistant manager, made me a delicious drink dubbed the Alisair – a cucumber based concoction that tastes (literally) like you’re sipping your drink through a fresh summer cucumber. Following that I had a delicious Co Cojito which (just as the name would imply) is a delicious chocolate topped mojito – the chocolate theme carries not only throughout the desserts and mains, but the drinks as well.
The boutique next door to the restaurant is delicious – our own Patrick Cooper (@btrpkc) was there sampling some of the chocolate rope. Chocolates vary in price, but for prices comparable to Godiva or Leonidas, you get chocolates that are hand crafted, unique and massively better tasting. Next time you have a date or anniversary that needs chocolates, do yourself a favor and go to Co|Co. Sala instead of your typical chocolate store.
I didn’t have a chance to sample the food in the restaurant itself, but reviews are good – Samet tells me that their happy hour goes from 4-7pm weeknights.
Enjoy!!

Yeah, the drinks were amazing – we should organize a Meridian & friends field trip…
